Frequently asked questions regarding Therapy
How often do I need to come to therapy? This is determined after your initial evaluation by the therapist. Skilled Medicare A patients are treated 5-7 times per week. We offer therapy 7 days per week, 362 days per year. We are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
How long will I receive therapy? The length of therapy is dependent on continued improvement in therapy.
Where can I get adaptive equipment for home-going? Equipment that is covered by Medicare or other insurance will be ordered by Social Services. Equipment that is not covered by insurance can be purchased at a medical supply or drug store.
Can we watch our family member in therapy? Yes! Please call the day before so we can arrange a convenient time for therapy.
When therapy is discontinued, can I pay privately for further therapy? When a resident is discharged from therapy, they are referred to restorative aids, trained in appropriate techniques, to continue with the programs they were receiving in therapy. They monitor each resident and communicate to therapy any changes which would indicate the need for further therapy.
What can I expect when I come to therapy? On your first visit, the therapist will conduct an evaluation of your entire body including: posture and biomechanics, range of motion, joint mobility and tissue textures to find out the cause of pain or disability. A customized treatment plan with short and long term goals will be devised.
What kind of education does a therapist have? Therapists are licensed health care professionals, with a Bachelors, Masters, and/or Doctorate of Therapy from an accredited program, who have passed the state board licensing exam. They have extensive training in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, neurological sciences, disease and injury pathophysiology and skilled therapeutic treatment application. Additionally, they attend continuing education courses to stay abreast of the latest medical developments and treatment approaches.
